9 grams
1 ½ grams

Preparation:


Powder and make Pills with water.
It is often prepared as a decoction in modern times using the above doses .

Function:


Clears Liver Heat, Harmonises the Stomach, Guides Qi Down

Use:


Epigastric distention, acid reflux, belching, bitter taste, red tongue with yellow coat, rapid and wiry pulse
1. Acid Reflux, GERD
2. Gastritis (acute and chronic)
3. Epigastric pain and distention
4. Vomiting
5. Peptic Ulcer
6. H. pylori infection
7. Hiatus Hernia
8. Hangover

Dose:


2–3 grams, 2–3 times daily.

Cautions:


1. Not used on a long-term basis
2. Not used for Acid Reflux due to Stomach Coldness.
3. Not used during Pregnancy

Modifications:


1. Severe acid reflux, add Cuttlefish Bone (Hai Piao Xiao)
2. Abdominal pain, add Paeonia Bai Shao, Costus (Mu Xiang)
3. With severe Liver Qi Stagnation take with Si Ni San
4. Peptic Ulcer, take with Xiao Yao San
