* Twice the amount of Water Buffalo horn extract is used in place of Rhinoceros horn.

Preparation:


Crush the minerals (not the cinnabar or salts) and boil in water three times; boil the herbal ingredients with the minerals three times to form a syrup. Next add the Mirabilite and Niter to the syrup, dry it, and powder. The finely powdered horns are added, the water purified Cinnabar is added, and lastly the Musk. Sift and keep for use.

Function:


Clears Heat and Toxin, Stops Spasms, Opens the Orifices, calms the Spirit

Use:


In all the following conditions, there is High Fever, Irritability, Restlessness, Delirium, loss of consciousness, spasms, convulsions, thirst, dark urine, constipation
1. Childhood Convulsions
2. Febrile Convulsions
3. Acute Encephalitis
4. Acute Meningitis
5. Measles
6. Scarlet Fever
7. Diphtheria
8. Acute Severe Tonsillitis
9. Severe Pneumonia


Dose:


1 1⁄2–3 gram doses, once or twice daily with warm water

Cautions:


1. Not use during Pregnancy
2. Only used while there is High Fever and impaired consciousness. Its use is stopped once these symptoms are relieved.
3. Not used long term because of the Cinnabar content.

Modifications:


Water Buffalo horn extract is used in place of Rhinoceros horn. Gold is often omitted in modern practice, or the pills can be wrapped in gold leaf instead. Synthetic Musk is often used and the Cinnabar would be omitted in developed countries.
