Nourish Yin and Clear the Lungs Decoction
TCM
Jade Key to Many Towers (Chong Lou Yu Yao)
Prepare a standard decoction. Generally the doses of all herbs is doubled in modern practice.
Nourish Yin, Clears the Lungs, Clears Toxin
Sore Throat, Cough, dry mouth and nose, red tongue with dry coat, rapid and thin pulse
1. Chronic Sore Throat
2. Diphtheria
3. Chronic Laryngitis, Chronic Pharyngitis
4. Bronchitis
5. Emphysema
6. Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)
7. Pulmonary Tuberculosis
8. Lung Cancer
9. Esophageal Cancer
10. Nasopharyngeal Cancer
11. Diabetes
The above decoction is divided into 3 equal doses to be taken over the course of a day.
Use cautiously in Spleen weakness with loose stool.
1. Severe Yin deficiency, add Rehmannia Shu Di Huang
2. Severe dryness, add Asparagus Tian Men Dong and Anemarrhena Zhi Mu
3. Severe swollen sore throat, add Belamcanda She Gan, Burdock seed (Niu Bang Zi) , Platycodon Jie Geng
4. Fever, add Forsythia Lian Qian, Lonicera Jin Yin Hua
5. Diphtheria, add Scutellaria Huang Qin and Forsythia Lian Qiao
6. Lung or Throat Cancer, increase the dose of Scrophularia Xuan Shen and add Astragalus Huang Qi, Solanum nigrum Long Kui
7. Side effects of Radiotherapy for Nasopharyngeal Cancer, increase the dose of Licorice, add Polygonatum Huang Jing, Anemarrhena Zhi Mu, Platycodon Jie Geng, Hedyotis Bai Hua She She Cao
8. Diabetes from Lung and Stomach Heat, add Gypsum (Shi Gao), Asparagus Tian Men Dong, Anemarrhena Zhi Mu, Trichosanthes Tian Hua Fen
This is specifically designed for Diphtheria. In modern practice, it should be treated together with Western Medicine as it is potentially very serious.
