Wind Diseases
Wind is of the Air Element, is moving by natural, and tends to be erratic. In the body is disrupts nervous function and causes irregularities in body function.Wind is either Internal or External. External Wind manifests as acute conditions like Cold and Flu and is dealt with elsewhere. Internal Wind is synonymous with the erratic movement of Vital Spirit (Qi). The smooth movement of Qi regulates all body systems and allows for controlled movement of the body. When Qi movement is erratic or moves incorrectly it manifests as diseases of the Nervous System such as Paralysis, Hemiplegia, Epilepsy, Convulsions, Apoplexy, Migraine, Hypertension. Wind usually comes with either Phlegm (sometimes called Cold) or Heat, can be acute or chronic, and can come from excess or deficiency.
Wind-Heat conditions may be associated with Fever or Inflammation and will tend to be more acute. Chronic Wind conditions may manifest with Cold-Wind-Phlegm, or Deficiency. Deficiency can be Yin Deficiency (dryness aggravates Wind) or Yang Deficiency.
