1. Clears Heat, Resists Poison, Moves the Blood, Stops Bleeding:
-Trauma, Wounds (internal and external)
-stops Bleeding from ruptured vessels
-promotes growth of healthy flesh in Wounds
-Fever associated with Wounds, Blood-Heat, and for Chronic Fevers
-Blood-Heat sores and skin conditions including Eczema
-Mastitis
-Intermittent Fever, Malaria
2. Clears Liver Heat, Clears Damp-Heat:
-Bile diseases/Liver Heat disorders including Hepatitis, Cholecystitis
-Hypertension (Tibet, TCM)
-Dysentery
-Urticaria
-Rheumatism, Paralysis
3. Externally:
-Sores, Boils and Toxic Swellings
-Mastitis
Dose:
Powder: 1–3 grams
Decoction: 3–9 grams
Substitute:
An important plant substitute for Bear Bile in Tibetan Medicine.
Main Combinations:
1. Lung Heat Cough:
i. with Blood in the sputum, Veronica ciliata with Chrysanthemum tatsienense, Chebula, Picrorhiza (as in Decoction of Chrysanthemum 6 of Tibetan Medicine)
ii. with Fever and yellow phlegm, Veronica ciliata with Triphala, Calcite, Tabasheer, Licorice, Sandalwood, Inula racemosa, Rhodiola, Tinospora, Clove (as in Blood Gentian Pill)
2. Liver Heat, Veronica ciliata with Swertia, Gentiana spp., Picrorhiza, Barberry bark, Safflower (as in Aconite 13 of Tibetan Medicine)
3. Hepatitis, Veronica ciliata with Safflower, Costus, Swertia, Meconopsis grandis, Shilajit
4. Damp heat in the lower body, pelvic pain, urethritis, swelling of the knees, Veronica ciliata with Chebula, Madder, Lesser Cardamon, Mucuna, Caesalpinia (as in Thlaspi 13)
5. Blood heat disorders, and in cases where Bloodletting would be indicated, Veronica ciliata with Emblic Myrobalan, Inula racemosa, Calcite, Tabasheer, Licorice (as in Subduer of all Blood Disorders of Tibetan Medicine)
6. Rheumatism, Leprosy and other Wind-Damp disorders, Veronica ciliata with Triphala, Bdellium, Calamus, Costus, Shilajit, Codonopsis nervosa, Tinospora, Corydalis meifolia (as in Codonopsis 18)
