Preparation:


Powder and form Troches with white wine.

Function:


Clears Phlegm, moves Qi, eases Pain, benefits the Stomach

Use:


1. Fever caused by Phlegm
2. Stomach Pain associated with Qi stagnation
3. Strengthens Digestion
4. Chronic Fever
5. Incipient Edema


Dose:


1–2 drams

Modifications:



These were used in the West, usually under the name of Troches of Rose. The Lesser version didn’t appear in most European Pharmacopoeias.

Some texts, such as Prospectus Pharmaceutici (1729) said the greater version given here, was more effective, more strengthening, and better corrected than the Lesser, and was used for the same uses.
