NOTE: 1 ounce seems an excessively large dose of Scammony; it is possible that 1 ounce was mistranslated from 1 dram, which would be a more likely amount. Sarcocolla likewise may be 2 drams rather than 2 ounces.

Preparation:


Powder and with a sufficient amount of decoction of Tithymalus (Euphorbia helioscopia) form Troches of 1 dram each.

Function:


Clear Wind and Damp, promote Urine, ease Pain

Use:


1. Kidney Pain
2. Lumbago, Lower back pain
3. Arthritis or Pain of the Sacrum
4. Sciatica


Dose:


1⁄2–1 dram with warm water
