As with other East Asian systems of Medicine, it is clear that a lot of the Materia Medica is common, and clear influence from Ayurveda and other local systems can be seen. Despite the large number of local medicines, the core Materia Medica used is similar to that of the other great systems including Ayurveda and Tibetan Medicine. As with Tibetan Medicine, the influence from Ayurveda followed the introduction of Buddhism.
