Tincture of Nutmeg,
or Cephalic Tincture of Nutmeg

Grind well in a hot Iron mortar; put them into a Glass Matrass or Bolt-head, and cover with 1 lb. of the rectified Spirit of Nutmegs (or Brandy), or enough to cover them by 2-3 inches. Mix, stop close, and digest in a good heat for 14 or 15 days, shaking the glass at least once daily; then decant the clear Tincture for use.
Clears Cold, Settles Wind, Strengthens
1. Headache, Migraine
2. Vertigo, Dizziness
3. Cramps, Convulsions, Numbness
4. Palpitations
5. promotes Fertility
6. Arthritic pain (topically)
7. Cold Swellings (topically)
8. Gangrene
10–20, or 30 drops.

Used for a variety of cold and moist diseases of the Head, Brain, Nerves, and Womb; it Fortifies the Heart and Brain, and is good for Headaches, Migraines, Vertigo, Epilepsy, Palsy, Apoplexy, Lethargy, Convulsions, Cramps, and Numbness.
It was also used for loss of Memory, and loss of the senses of Smelling or Tasting, and for weak and failing Eyesight.
As a Cordial, it is good for fainting and swooning, sickness of the Heart, and Palpitations etc.
It strengthens and comforts the Womb, making it ‘Fruitful’ and fit for Conception.
Externally, it is good for all cold aches and pains, including Arthritic pain, and is also good for cold swellings. It was also used externally to prevent Gangrene.
