Preparation:


Digest 2 weeks, press and filter.

Function:


Warms the Stomach and Kidneys, Clears Wind

Use:


1. Colic, Gastrointestinal Spasms and Pain
2. Promotes Appetite and Digestion
3. Nausea, Loss of Appetite
4. Hiccups
5. Edema, Strangury
6. Asthma, Bronchitis (India)

Dose:


1–3 drams in a suitable vehicle.

Modifications:



Salmon said ‘It is a powerful thing against the Colic, Pains in the Stomach and Sides, whether proceeding from Wind or Cold, Stitches, Gripings of the Guts, and the most extreme Torture of the Bowels. It mightily strengthens the Stomach, causes a good appetite, and extremely helps the Digestion, so that it causes those to hunger after their Food, that have either a nauseousness and loathing, or have not eaten with any delight for many weeks together’.
   
It strengthens the Stomach, promotes a good Appetite and Digestion, and relieves Nausea or loss of interest in food. It is also very useful for stubborn Hiccoughs. It promotes Urine when obstructed by Cold and Damp and is used for Strangury, Cystitis and Scanty Urine.
   
Used in India and Tibet for Asthma and Bronchitis.
