Uses:
1. Clears Heat, Resists Poison:
-Abscesses, Boils, Carbuncles, Toxic Swellings
-Breast Abscess, Intestinal Abscess with swelling and pain
-Skin lesions
2. Moves the Blood, Clears Stasis:
-Trauma, Bruising
-Amenorrhea, Dysmenorrhea
-Acute Pelvic Inflammation
-Acute Appendicitis
-Muscles and Joint pain from Blood stasis
3. Settles Wind:
-Dizziness
-Wind-Damp Muscles and Joint pain
4. Kills Worms:
–Hookworm disease, Roundworm disease, Filariasis (Barefoot Doctors Manual)
Dose:
Steeped in wine or made into a tincture to move the Blood. Or the powder can be taken with Wine.
Decoction: 9–15 grams (up to 30 grams)
Powder: 1–4 grams
Powder can be mixed with water or wine for external use.
Substitute:
This herb is used for Spatholobus Ji Xue Teng in some parts of China.

i. Sargentodoxa with Lonicera Jin Yin Hua, Dandelion (Pu Gong Ying), Violet (Zi Hua Di Ding)
ii. Sargentodoxa with Rhubarb (Da Huang), Coptis Huang Lian
2. Intestinal Abscess:
i. Sargentodoxa with Rhubarb (Da Huang), Paeonia Mu Dan Pi, Dandelion (Pu Gong Ying)
ii. Sargentodoxa with Lonicera Jin Yin Hua, Forsythia Lian Qiao, Paeonia Mu Dan Pi
3. Pain from Trauma:
i. Sargentodoxa with Dang Gui, Safflower (Hong Hua), Myrrh (Mo Yao)
ii. Sargentodoxa with Peonia rubra Chi Shao Yao, Achyranthes Niu Xi, Dipsacus Xu Duan
4. Dysmenorrhea from Blood stasis:
i. Sargentodoxa with Dang Gui, Paeonia rubra Chi Shao Yao, Typha Pu Huang
ii. Sargentodoxa with Dang Gui, Cyperus rotundus (Xiang Fu), Salvia Dan Shen
