Preparation:


Form an Electuary according to Art: Dissolve the Sugar in Rose Water, add the beaten nuts, then the powdered spices, adding the Musk and Ambergris towards the end. Gold or Silver leaf was usually added.

Function:


Clears Heat, benefits Yin and Qi

Use:


1. Strengthens Brain, Heart, Lungs and Stomach
2. Gently clears Heat, reduces Damp while supporting Qi

Modifications:


1. A reformed version omitted the oils and Cinnamon, Clove and Aloeswood.

This was designed by Mesue as a pleasant, nourishing, tonic medicine suitable for Royalty. It is effectively a confection of Almonds and Pine nuts with spices, making it a nourishing tonic in weakness, benefitting Qi and Yin, and good for the Lungs.
