Powder
Strengthens the Lungs, Tonifies Qi, clears Phlegm and Heat, Stops Cough and Wheezing
Chronic Cough and Wheezing, Yellow Phlegm, heat of the Chest, purplish tongue with greasy yellow or thin white coat, weak pulse
1. Chronic Bronchitis
2. Asthmatic Bronchitis
3. Bronchial Asthma
4. Emphysema
5. Pulmonary Tuberculosis
3–6 grams, twice daily, morning and night.
Not used for acute Cough, or during Cold and Flu
1. Chronic Cough, add Coltsfoot
2. Chronic Cough without Heat, omit Mulberry bark (Sang Bai Pi) and Anemarrhena Zhi Mu.
3. Asthma, add Walnut (Hu Tao), Ophiopogon Mai Men Dong, Schisandra Wu Wei Zi.
4. Acute Asthma attack from Cold and Yang deficiency, take with Xiao Qing Long Tang.
5. Acute Asthma attack with Heat, take with Ma Xing Shi Gan Tang.
6. Severe Asthma or Breathlessness, add Cordyceps Dong Chong Xia Cao.
7. For concurrent Yin deficiency, add Asparagus Tian Men Dong, Ophiopogon Mai Men Dong.
8. For Cold Phlegm, add Mustard seed (Bai Jie Zi), Radish seed (Lai Fu Zi).
9. For Blood in the sputum, add Burnet (Di Yu)
