Function:


Opens Obstructions, moves the Blood, resolves Swelling and Hardness, promotes Urine

Use:


1. Edema, especially in the beginning stages; Fluid under the skin
2. Ascites
3. helps with Gravel and Stones
4. Swelling, hardness, tumors of the Liver, Bladder, Kidneys or Abdominal organs
5. Fibroid Tumors
6. Jaundice, including Chronic Jaundice
7. Cachexia
8. Amenorrhea
9. Dysmenorrhea
10. Gynecological disease associated with Blood stagnation


Dose:


1⁄2 dram with wine, up to 1 dram for a strong patient

Modifications:



Note that this is basically the same as Dialacca Major of Mesue excepting that the Greater version of Mesue has an extra 12 herbs added. Nevertheless, their effect is very similar. That of Mesue is perhaps better corrected and more effective due to the other medicines added.
