2. A contemporary form used in India is made with equal parts of Colchicum, Aloe and Yellow Myrobalan.
3. Another variation used equal parts of Colchicum, Turpeth, Bdellium, Yellow Myrobalan and Colocynth.
4. Mastic is a good addition to strengthen the Stomach, clear Damp and soften the harshness of the other medicines. Mastic in small dose was a common addition. Mastic should also be added for anyone with a sensitive stomach.
5. In Osteoarthritis and Rheumatoid Arthritis, Bdellium, Celery seed and Mastic should be added, or a version containing Bdellium should be chosen.
6. Saffron is also a good addition, to help better penetrate the finest circulation.

In contemporary Unani medicine, Colchicum (Suranjun) is divided into Sweet and Bitter varieties. The Bitter variety, which is the true Colchicum on the ancients, is generally not used internally, but is used externally in certain compounds. The Sweet variety is variously reported to be of Merendera spp. or Colchicum luteum. However, it is the type most suitable for internal consumption in modern days being less toxic and irritant.

Various Pills of Colchicum have been very important in the treatment of Arthritic and Rheumatic disorders, and still continue to be used today in Unani medicine.
