2. Moves Qi, Opens Obstructions:
-Epigastric or Hypochondriac pain
-used as a purgative in India
3. Clears Heat, Resists Poison:
-various Poisons
-Blood poisoning
-applied topically to Sores and Boils
-all types of Hot disorder (Tibet)
ROOT-BARK:
1. Clears Damp-Heat, Resists Poison:
-Remittent Fever; Measles (in Thailand)
-Hepatitis
-abdominal pain, indigestion
-Diarrhea, Dysentery; Amoebic Dysentery (medicated Ghee is used in India)
-non-healing Ulcers (Charaka)
2. Clears Damp-Heat, Promotes Urine:
-Edema, urinary obstruction
-Dysuria, Cystitis
-as an adjunct in Diabetes
3. Clears Wind-Damp:
-Arthritis, Rheumatoid Arthritis
-benefits the Bones, used for Fractures
4. Moves the Blood:
-Uterine tonic after Birth (Thailand)
-regarded as a Folk Remedy for Tumors and Cancer

-applied to Rheumatic Swellings
-poultice is applied to Broken Bones

-oil in which the bark is boiled is dropped into the ear for Otorrhea

Dose:
SEED: 1–3 grams
ROOT-BARK: 2–5 grams of the Powder; 10 grams decocted in 75mls of water can be given tablespoonful doses twice daily.
