Preparation:


Form pills with Syrup of Rose or Violet.

Function:


Purges Bile and Phlegm, Purges Mixed Humors, strengthens the Stomach

Use:


1. purges excess, purges Phlegm, Bile and Mixed Humors
2. cleanses the Stomach, Bowels and Liver;
3. bene
fits the Stomach and Digestion;
4. also for Headache, Vertigo, Gout etc
5. A safe, general purge for occasional use


Dose:


2 scruples–1 1⁄2 drams

Cautions:


None noted
Not to be used continuously. Best not used for more than 7–10 days without a break.

Modifications:


1. Several modifications can be made. The Aloe can be reduced in proportion, Triphala can replace 5 Myrobalans, the Myrobalans can be increased in proportion, and a few of the medicines can be dropped, for example Aloeswood, Cubeb and Manna.
2. To more strongly clear Phlegm and Damp, the dose of Agaric and Turbith could be increased.

These are a larger version of Imperial Pills

These have the vertues of Imperial Pills, which were more commonly used. However, this is a very elegant formula and is better corrected, and more suited to long-term use. They are called Magisterial because they are better corrected for use in delicate bodies.
