Uses:


Note: generally used the same as the Green Hull which is stronger
1. Clears Heat, Resists Poison:
-resists Poison, Plague and Infectious diseases: acute infectious diseases (Hull is stronger)
-Acne, Rashes, Eczema; skin diseases from Heat-Toxin

2. Astringes to Stop Leakage:
-Astringent: Diarrhea, Leukorrhea, (Green Hull is stronger)
-excess Sweating

3. Clears Phlegm-Heat, Resolves Masses:
-Scrofula, Tumors and Cancer
-The twigs are used similarly for Tumors and Cancer
-Modern TCM has used Green Walnut for Cancer;

4. Clears Deficient Heat:
-Anemia
-Hectic Fever in Children, burn the entire nut with its shell to ashes; dose is 1 scruple

5. Moves the Bowels, Kills Worms
-a mild laxative
-Worms, especially Tapeworm

Stops Milk:
-stops Milk in Nursing Mothers

-purges Phlegm and
Choler (Bile) strongly
-used for Tumors and Cancer

Leaf in Decoction: 3–9 grams (10–30 grams fresh)

1. Acute sore throat, gargle with Walnut leaf and Sage
2. Skin rashes:
i. in children, Walnut leaf with Heartsease
ii. Walnut leaf with Heartsease, Sanicle, Pimpernel, Sarsaparilla, Sloe flower (Rose)
3. Acne:
i. Walnut leaf with Camomile and Agrimony
ii. Walnut leaf with Violet, Dandelion, Calendula
4. Chronic Eczema:
i. Walnut leaf with Asparagus shoots, Dandelion
ii. Walnut leaf with Heartsease, Fenugreek, Ground Ivy (Fischer)
5. Scrofula:
i. Walnut leaf with Heartsease, Senna, Licorice (Rost-Klemperer)
ii. Walnut leaf with Self Heal, Balm, St. John’s wort, Calendula
6. Anemia, Walnut leaf with Nettle, Sage
7. Night Sweats, Walnut leaf with Sage, Strawberry leaf and Nettle
8. Worms, leaves or bark of Walnut, taken with juices of Nettle, Mullein, Vinegar and Honey (Hildegard)
9. Skin tonic, Walnut leaf extract, Spruce needle oil, Lavender oil, Rosemary oil, Laurel oil in Olive oil for topical use
