Hernia, Rupture

Rupture is the traditional term for Hernia, but also for similar conditions such as Hematoma where a membrane is stretched or torn and an organ or vessel protrudes. Inguinal Hernia is often associated with Wind and there is often a laxity of the tissues, meaning astringents must be used. In western treatment internal remedies appropriate to the individual were applied while applying astringent plasters externally.

Umbilical Hernia in newborns is often cured by binding a copper coin to the umbilicus for several days if it is not  too chronic or severe.
