Preparation:
Powder and triturate with Lemon or Ginger juice, then form pills of 125mg each.
Some sources recommend grinding the powder with water for several days before forming pills with Ginger juice.
Function:
Clears Wind, Reduces Fever, Resists Poison, enhances Strength
Use:
Primarily used for Vata (Wind) and Vata-Kapha (Wind-Phlegm) conditions, although it is regarded as balancing all 3 Dosas (Humors). Especially for Wind-type Chronic or Remittent Fevers.
1, Chronic Fever
2. Intermittent Fever
3. Typhoid Fever
4. Complex Fever (caused by 3 Dosas/Humors)
5. Vata (Wind) Fever with acute, moving body pains
6. Asthma (from Wind and Phlegm)
7. Pneumonia
8. Epilepsy
9. Cardiac debility
Dose:
125–250mg with Honey, Ginger juice, Basil juice etc.
for Chronic Fever taken with Ginger juice
for Fever from Indigestion taken with Lemon juice
for Vata (Wind) Fever taken with Whey
for Burning Fever, taken with Coconut water
Cautions:
1. Not used in Pregnancy, Lactation or in young Children..
2. Avoid long-term use
Modifications:
There are a number of additions to this basic formula:
1. Sometimes other herbs such as Solanum nigrum are added
2. Purified Realgar is sometiems added and is a good addition for Fever
3. Bhasmas of Iron, Copper, Mica and other are sometimes added.
