Aloes Rosata

The two ingredients in this formula remained a secret for a long time, with several authors, including Schroder, being forbidden to publish them. Horstius was said to have been first given the recipe by a famous Physician of Frankfurt, who swore on an oath that this was the genuine recipe. Other writers widely published it later. They were “so much admired and desired by the World”.

‘They are infinitely safer and pleasanter then Aloes alone, being void of that sharpness yet retaining all their sanitive virtues. They cleanse the Stomach and Bowels from corrupt Humours, open obstructions of the Liver, Spleen and Intestines, cleansing them from all their filth; they strengthen the Stomach, and all inward parts, yea the whole body, preserving the entire man in health’.
