Exhilaratives

Exhilaratives are a class of medicine especially of the Arab physicians, although the original Laetificans (Latin for Happy or Cheerful), credited to Galen, shows the ancient Greeks were the first to use this class of medicine. However, Unani has a number of elegant compounds used as Exhilarants, often containing gems, and still uses such compounds today.

Exhilaratives are medicines that promote a feeling of Joy or Cheerfulness. These medicines tend to uplift the Spirits, move Qi, support the Heart and gladden the Spirit.

Ayurveda has the Hridya group of drugs, those that promote Cheerfulness:
Mangifera indica, Spondias pinnata, Artocarpus lakucha, Pongamia glabra, Oxalis cornuculata, Rumex vesicarius, Zizyphus oenoplia, Ziziphus jujuba, Punica granatum, Citrus acida
