Herb Name Scorpion burnt Gentian Ginger Black Pepper Long Pepper Winter Cherry Castoreum

Latin Scorpio usta Gentiana lutea Zingiber officinalis Piper nigrum Piper longum Physalis alkekengi Castoreum Amount 3 1⁄2 dram 1 1⁄2 dram 1 dram 5 1⁄2 drams ea. 4 drams

Preparation:

Powder and mix with three times their weight of clarified Honey to form an Electuary.

Function:

Clears Stones, Promotes Urine

Use:

1. Bladder and Kidney Stones
2. Scorpion Bites

Dose:

1 scruple with (Macedonian) Parsley Water

Cautions:

Not suitable for Yin deficiency or Blood in the Urine

Modifications:

Scorpion was often used in the form of an Oil for Stones when applied over the Kidneys and Pubic area. This is a rare use of Scorpion internally for the same purpose.
