Preparation:


Powder and form pills with Water.
It is also prepared as a decoction.

Function:


Harmonizes the Stomach, Reduces Food Stagnation.

Use:


Fullness and distention in the chest, stomach or abdomen, belching, acid regurgitation, nausea or vomiting, bad breath, maybe diarrhea or constipation, yellow, greasy tongue coating.
1. Indigestion
2. Acid Reflux
3. Gastritis
4. Acute Gastroenteritis
5. Chronic Pancreatitis
6. Obesity
7. Abdominal Pain
8. Caeliac Disease
9. Anorexia
10. Bronchitis or Asthma associated with Food Stagnation

Dose:


6–9 grams, taken with Ginger tea or a decoction of Malter Barley (Mai Ya).

Cautions:


1. Not used in Spleen deficiency (marked weakness).
2. Use cautiously during Pregnancy

Modifications:


1. To strengthen the formula, add Malted Barley (Mai Ya). This is called Preserve Harmony Pill from the Precious Mirror.
2. To more strongly resolve Food Stagnation, add Chicken Gizzard Skin (Ji Nei Jin)
3. To strengthen the Spleen (Digestion) especially in children, add Atracylodes Bai Zhu. This is called Great Tranquility Pill.
4. Spleen Deficiency, take with Xiang Sha Liu Jun Zi Tang
5. Stomach Cold, add Ginger (Gan Jiang) and Amomum Sha Ren.
6. Constipation, add Rhubarb (Da Huang)
7. with Qi Stagnation, add Cyperus Xiang Fu and Costus Mu Xiang.
8. Diarrhea, add Coptis Huang Lian.
9. Bronchitis or Asthma associated with Food Stagnation, add Rhubarb (Da Huang)
10. Chronic Pancreatitis, add Magnolia Hou Po, Immature Orange (Zhi Shi)
