Today, this is also commonly used in syrup form.

Function:


Settles Wind, Clears Phlegm

Use:


Special for Childhood diseases including:
1. Diarrhea
2. Vomiting
3. Abdominal pain, Colic
4. Loss of appetite
5. Disorders associated with Teething
6. Common Cold
7. Fever
8. Upper Respiratory tract infection
9. Cough
10. Asthma
11. Emaciation

Dose:


500mg–1 gram, taken with Breast Milk or Honey
Some sources have recommended 15mg per kilo of body weight (which may be increased to 25mg per kilo).
Taken before food for poor appetit, vomiting or cough; after food for indigestion, abdominal pain and colic.

Cautions:


None noted

Modifications:


1. Abdominal pain, take with Fennel
2. Cough and breathing problems, take with Licorice

This is the most important Ayurvedic medicine for Pediatric diseases.
