The Gypsum is crushed and decocted for 30–45 minutes before adding the herbs. The Ginseng can be cooked separately in a double boiler then added to the strained decoction. If the deficiency isn’t too severe, powdered Ginseng can be taken with the decoction of the other medicines.
Clears Heat and Fire, relieves Thirst, Generates Fluids, Increases Qi
Heat in the Qi level (Fever, profuse Sweating, thirst), parched mouth, red tongue with fissures, large and rapid pulse that’s forceless
1. Fever with Thirst and deficiency
2. Diabetes with Stomach Fire
3. The source texts advises to use this formula if the patient has Thirst and Sweating after the use of Gui Zhi Tang.
