Preparation:


Powder the herbs, adding the Castoreum at the end; mix with sufficient Honey to form an Electuary.

Function:


Warms, moves the Qi and Blood, opens Obstructions

Use:


“it is given against catarrh and against all diseases of the chest caused by cold phlegm” (Antidotum Nicolai)
1. Scotoma (partial loss of vision or blind spot in vision)
2. Tumors
3. Cough
4. Catarrh
5. Abscess of the Lungs, expectoration of purulent matter (taken with Honey water)
6. Pleurisy

7. Hepatitis (taken with Honey water)
8. Spleen diseases (taken with Oxymel)
9. restores Digestion
10. cleanses the Kidneys


Dose:


As much as a hazelnut with warm water if hot-natured, otherwise with warm wine

Cautions:


None noted

Modifications:


A similar formula was called Antidotus Acharistos Aetius. It omitted seeds of Lovage and Anise, but added Opium, all being used in equal doses. Used similarly.
